TIA568 Wiring Standards

How to decide which wiring pattern to use:

1. Does the job specification call out a wiring pattern?
2. Does the customer/end user have a preference for T568A or T568B?
3. Have patch panels already been purchased for the job? If so, they will probably be either T568A or T568B. The jacks should be wired to the same pattern as the panels.
4. Are you adding on to an existing wiring plant? If so, your new wiring should match the existing wiring.

If none of the factors above apply, either T568A or T568B may be used. It is important to ensure that the workstation connectors and the patch panels are wired to the same pattern. T568B is commonly used in commercial installations, while T568A is prevalent in residential installations.

The Leviton line of Wireless Wall Switch Receivers (WSS10-0Dx andWSS10-GDx)work in conjunction with the Wireless Occupancy Sensors (WSCxx-I0W) andtheWireless Remote Switch (WSS0S-P0x) to provide an optimal solution forretrofitlighting needs. These wireless products combine Leviton’s switchingtechnologywith self-powered and wireless technologies, developed and licensedfromEnOcean®. The Wall Switch Receiver can be installed in place oftraditionalsingle-pole wall switches and fits in a standard single-gang wall box.Noadditional wiring is required.

These components are compatible with incandescent, fluorescent andlow-voltage lighting. The Receiver responds tosignals from the Wireless Occupancy Sensor, automatically shutting offlightswhen the room is vacant. Lights are automatically activated upon entryinAuto-ON mode with the Wireless Occupancy Sensor. The Receiver alsofeatures asingle manual-override switch that can be used to toggle the ON/OFFstatus ofthe light load while an area is occupied.

The Wireless Remote Switch is self-powered (no batteries required),drawingon kinetic energy to charge itself each time the button is pushed. TheRemoteSwitch can be used to control lights from multiple locations. It canalso beused for a convenient three-way switch solution, eliminating the needto pulladditional wiring.

  • No Additional Wiring: Wireless Occupancy Sensors communicate with the Wall Switch Receiver and Self-Powered Remote Switch via wireless technology, eliminating the need to pull any additional wire.
  • Manual ON/OFF Switching: provides push-button manual-ON/OFF light switching of each light load at any time.
  • Maximize Energy Savings: optional manual adjustment for delayed-OFF time settings of 2 (for walking test), 10 minutes, 20 minutes, and 30 minutes. Allows customized adjustments to maximize energy savings. Manual-ON/ Automatic-OFF mode for installations where manual-ON switching is required but automatic OFF switching is still desired for energy savings.
  • Viewing Mode: allows push buttons to turn lights OFF and keep them OFF even when room is occupied (i.e.: for slide or film presentations).
  • Walk-Thru Feature: provides increased energy savings by not leaving the lights on for an extended period after momentary occupancy.
  • Standard Size for Seamless Installation: Wall Switch Wireless Receiver fits in a standard single gang wall box and replaces two single-pole wall-switches for fast and easy installation. Neutral and non-neutral models available.
  • True Zero-Cross Relay: switches at the zero crossing point of the AC power curve to ensure maximum contactor life and compatibility with electronic ballasts.
  • All Digital Circuitry: uses minimum components for maximum reliability and low cost.
