TIA568 Wiring Standards

How to decide which wiring pattern to use:

1. Does the job specification call out a wiring pattern?
2. Does the customer/end user have a preference for T568A or T568B?
3. Have patch panels already been purchased for the job? If so, they will probably be either T568A or T568B. The jacks should be wired to the same pattern as the panels.
4. Are you adding on to an existing wiring plant? If so, your new wiring should match the existing wiring.

If none of the factors above apply, either T568A or T568B may be used. It is important to ensure that the workstation connectors and the patch panels are wired to the same pattern. T568B is commonly used in commercial installations, while T568A is prevalent in residential installations.

The Speaker Seeker™ (TP400) wiremaps speaker and security/alarm wire up to 20 individual runs at a time by using 20 wiremap remotes. Each remote is specially wired with alligator clips to attach to unterminated paired cable ends.

Simply touch to unterminated ends of the cable run to the contact points of the Speaker Seeker™. Results in the LED readout display the unique number of the remote identifier attached to the other end.

Coax cables can be identified by attaching the coax alligator clip adapter to the coax jack on the Speaker Seeker™. Then the cable can be identified by using either an unterminated remote identifier (included) or a coax remote identifier available for purchase separately.

The Speaker Seeker™ offers the installer a quick and accurate way to map speaker, security/alarm, and coax wire.
