What does "waterproof" mean?
Progressive takes the hype out of common phrases like "rain proof" and "splash safe" with our revolutionary new case designs. In the test equipment world, water is the worst enemy, so we have a tough standard for the word "waterproof". Our telephone test sets are proof tested to an IEC IP67 rating. Meaning, these units will not only withstand a monsoon rain, they can actually be submersed in water for a period of time. (It isn't likely for that to occur because all models will actually float!) Our new plastics even won the Modern Plastics International Design Award for Electronics.
Why DigAlert
When working around telephone wiring, the chance that you will encounter digital service lines increases every day. An ordinary telephone test set can damage digital service lines or at the very least, knock them out of service for a while. With DigAlert protection you don't have to worry about accidentally intruding into digital services like ADSL, ISDN, T-1 and other high capacity circuits. We've even incorporated a unique over-voltage alarm and lockout feature in all five models in case you accidentally connect to a DSL power feed.
